Some of the family went to go clamming, but there were some that came yesterday and didnt want to waste their time watching for some tiny little stupid clams, but boy were they surprised when we returned home.
Diggin.......
Diggin.....................................
and then JACKPOT!!! picture is Coreys dad, BOB or papa. We ended up with a whole bucket full of clams.
Now I know exactly what your thinking. But its nature people...............Those "thingys" that are emerging are called SIPHONS. Those are how they dig into the dirt or sand. They say that they can dig up to 9 inches in 1 minute which is pretty incredible.
How to catch a clam is you walk around the sandy bay and you can spot these random holes in the ground. You penetrate the shovel into the ground straight down and all of the sudden this "SQUIRT" of water flies out and you have to get down on your hands and knees to start digging as fast as you can to try to catch them. These actual clams are called soft shell clams so there shells are extremley hard to not break, but it was a lot of fun and something that we'll always remember.
The whole clamming group.
The weather got to about 65 degrees and the wind blew about 45 mph maybe faster. It was soooooooo miserable. Next to our house there is a little cove that we were able to get out of the wind a little bit and started to play volleyball, which our family just loves.

So Jess~ I just want to know what all of the girls (besides you and Christina) are doing while you dig for clams? Still looks like you are having a blast!
Jess that clam is freakin nasty! I really cant even imagine catching those and then trying to eat them. That makes me sick!
